REPAIR – RESTORE – CONSERVE

Removal Of Old Varnish
This portrait of a girl had a tear extending from the corners of the triangular shape hole, upward to the girls nose. In order to repair the damage done to the painting it is necessary to first clean the painting, which includes the removal of the old discolored varnish. The painting was removed from its stretcher, flattened, holes and tears mended. The painting was re lined (attached to a new supporting canvas) and stretched on a new stretcher. The painting was in painted where needed and given protective cover varnish. The painting was reinstalled in its frame. A protective back board was attached to the back of the paintings stretcher.
